Deventer is the city where I live for about 15 years, 15 years in which a lot has happened. 15 years in which I also enjoyed the beautiful city! Festival city, proud city, beautiful city, old town, Hanzstad...
Here a photo taken from the Wilhelmina Bridge with a long shutter speed. The Lebuinus Tower as a subject!
With the foot - bike ferry you can go to the other side, to 'de Worp'. Here is also the city campsite, and there you have this view. Over the IJssel you can look at the skyline of Deventer.
The old streets of the Bergkwartier are so beautiful! From the city centre to the Bergkerk you can stroll through the winding streets with these kinds of vistas!
In December 'we' also have the Dickens festival, where the streets are completely decorated in the atmosphere of Dickens. Then the bullies, the gravediggers, the punks and the fancy ladies and gentlemen walk through the streets. So incredibly fun!
Tip: Come on time, or at the end of the afternoon, you don't have to queue for an hour! But it's definitely worth it!
UNFORTUNATELY, IN 2020 THE DICKENSFESTIJN WAS CANCELED DUE TO CORONA
And then the Wilhelmina Bridge, the bridge over the IJssel. For me one of the most photographed places in the city! In the film 'a bridge to far' this bridge also appeared. Although the film does not play in Deventer, images are recorded here.
Now and then the bridge is specially lit, for example on comming out day. So here in the rainbow colors to support the LHBTI - community. Then I feel proud of my city!
One of my favorite photos, photographed from the Wilhelmina Bridge, with the background again the Lebuinuskerk.
