He feels at home with them, but he won't be really happy until his sister Olke, who is still trapped in the circus, was with him. So Bolke's making an escape plan. Will he manage to free Olke?

Bolke de Beer is a fictional bear in the children's book series and was invented by A.D. Hildebrand in 1935.
The series is about a brown bear escaped from the circus who experiences everything with his friends in the woods near Apeldoorn where he lives. Bolke gets acquainted with the hare family Buizer, the fox Vlens, the hedgehog Drubbiebuu, the chicken old mole and the deer Rosientje. Bolke has a little sister, Olke, who is also freed from the circus. Later, in part two 'The Son of Bolke', Bolke moves with his sister to the Harz Mountains near Goslar in central Germany, because the forests near Apeldoorn become too busy and too dangerous for them.
