A troll doll (cap) you are a small doll with fine-threaded, brightly colored, upright combed hair, representing a smiling troll. The doll is also known as Dam doll, troll doll, or good luck troll. The doll was designed in 1959 by Danish fisherman and woodcarver Thomas Dam. Because he didn't have the money for a Christmas present for his daughter, he made her a doll. Other children in the village also wanted one and Dam started producing the dolls in plastic. The original version had eyes made of glass and sheep's wool hair. In the early 1960s, the dolls were a fad in Europe and the United States. Due to its popularity and an unclearly described patent, much cheaper produced imitations came to the market. In 2016 the animated film Trolls was released, in which the dolls play a leading role. The target group were children and they were already happy with such a puppet that made no noise.
