The previous evening and last night brought thunderstorms and rain. The humidity is still in the air in the morning. The temperature rises fairly quickly, although it is windless and partly cloudy. It feels a little clammy.
We put on our hiking boots again, prepare a picnic and drive to the old State Prison of Crest, the 'Tour de Crest'. It is the highest keep in France that has been preserved.
We do not visit the tower, but here we start our walk of a little less than 2 hours.
We hope for nice views, because again there are some spicy climbs in it.
It is very warm, although the sun quickly disappears completely behind the cloud. The beautiful views are indeed there. We're higher than we'd be on the tower. Occasionally you can look at the peaks over the rocks to the valley and the surrounding area.
We find a nice place to eat our picnic: on top of the world...
Too bad the lavender fields have already blossomed and grubbed up. The smell is still vague, but it must have been overwhelming here.
The sunflowers are still beautiful in the valley.
We see again 'les Trois Becs' in the distance, the peaks we climbed a few days ago.
If we walk back to the tower through the woods, we find wild orchids. (Or that's what I thought. It's apparently lathyrus flowers...)
