I see freedom anyway.

When I look at the header image like that, I see freedom in security. This week, the Arnhem region commemorates '75 years of Operation Market Garden'.

There, the Allies fought to give us freedom. The south of the Netherlands was already liberated. The north could soon follow.

Unfortunately, the Rhine Bridge turned out to be 'a bridge too far'. As a result, freedom was not completely complete for the south either. After all, the leadership of our country - Queen Wilhelmina and the government - could not return yet. There was freedom inside the fence. Limited freedom, so to say.

Even after the war - from May 1945 - freedom may have been limited. Especially in Eastern Europe, of course, but other forces also came to the fore in the west. Think, for example, of money, the economy and the desire for unbridled freedom (including the sexual revolution).
