Recently I wrote a blog about the #eventviewer scam, where you are called by someone who claims to be from Microsoft's technical department.

A variant of the event viewer scam is the ASSOCor CLSID. Apparently, it's “the time of year, “because after the call from the event viewer- #oplichters I got this type of type three more times on the phone. Well, in fact a little more, but about that you read further on.

How does this ASSOCor #CLSID scam in his work

It starts with getting a call from an English-speaking person who claims to work for Microsoft. Most often this person speaks with an accent. The conversation is often thrown with terms such as' #helpdesk ',' security ', 'technical department', and the like. The point is to convince you that these pranksters are real.

Below you can see an abbreviated view of the conversation, the original lasted much longer, with a lot of repetitions and was obviously in English. In the background you can hear the sounds of a call center, you need to feel that it's all a serious matter.
