Butterfly Museum
One of the most unique and my favourite museum of Pokhara is Annapurna Butterfly museum. The museum have an amazing display of many ethnics groups culture, geological earth samples, birds and animals but as the name suggests ,its most iconic display is almost 660 species of butterfly found in Nepal.
Colins Smith,a British Entomologist collected all these samples for 30 years and preserved them. I had never seen such huge number of species of butterfly. Some species look like a leaf,some are as big as an adult hand,some are colorful,some are so tiny. I cannot explain the collection in words and moreover, I cannot imagine the hardship done by the collector.The mimicry,camouflage,colour of these species are breathtaking.
I have visited the museum 2-3 times but have never been able to see the whole collection. This is the best collection of butterflies in all over Nepal. Despite being this magical,few visitors visit here. This museum is in no limelight being a public property and managed by a government campus.
I am trying to show you best photos but i didn't clicked at that moment and one thing i hate about Nepal is museum like this dont even have some good photos to show in their website.
