Dusty lemon crust

@Madeleine

This afternoon my eye once again caught a very interesting and educational blog by fellow Yoorsblogger. @Marc The Bishop  . He talked about different types of lichens. I didn't even know that there were so many types of lichen and what have a feature these lichens. I saw one of the pictures and there I recognized a lichen species. I went to think and yes I knew suddenly again. On my hard drive I had two pictures of the lichen species Dusty lemon crust. I took this photo a few years back in Zeeland. There were big boulders on the edge of the beach and I saw this beautiful natural phenomenon. Today I know what this beautiful natural phenomenon is called thanks to Marc's blog. How fun is that?!

It's also true that it's a crust, because when I stood there and took the pictures it also looked like a hard placard attached to the stone. So a crust. Hence the name lichen. And because it's yellow in color, it refers to lemon. They grow mostly on stone, but also on pasture poles, concrete and suddenly I think: I have seen them on curbs and pavement tiles.
