Metaverse: Fantasy or Future?
What is Meta-verse?
Metaverse refers to a number of virtually interconnected universes which the users can access. It has the potential to reinvent the way we interact and communicate with others online. Meta formally known as Facebook, is now shifting its focus to building digital infrastructure that will enable the Metaverse. To summarize the Metaverse in the few words, we can call it a digital platform which allows companies to launch their products on it. These products will be predominantly based upon technologies like augmented and virtual reality.

Augmented Reality
A.R. (Augmented Reality) is the technology that allows its users to interact with digital products in the reference of real world. One of the most famous examples of A.R. is a game called ‘Pokémon Go’ launched by Niantic in 2016. The main plot of the game revolved around the popular anime ‘Pokémon’, where players travelled to different places in real world to capture wild and rare Pokémon. It was one of those products that brought A.R. in the spotlight.

Investments in Metaverse
The Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF has crossed $250 million mark in the last eighteen weeks. An ETF allows an average user to invest into companies that are working to develop technologies that will enable the Metaverse.

Ethics and Cybersecurity
An open discussion about ethics is crucial. It is hard to believe that a data mining company like Facebook which sells its user's personal data for profit won’t replicate the same business model in Metaverse. In a world where we are constantly plugged into our devices cybersecurity can be a great challenge. Whether we like it or not, the fact is we will be living in hacker's heaven.
