#yoorsnovember
I live in the state of Zulia, Venezuela, and the month of November is of special significance for the Zulian people, because exactly on November 18 the festivities are celebrated in honor of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá patron saint of this city.
A sign of fervor is shown when the village of Maracaibo is gathered in the early morning of the 18th on the square of the Basilica, to sing to the Chinita las Mañanitas and Happy Birthday.
It tells the story that one day in 1749, a simple woman had just washed her clothes on the shores of Lake Maracaibo, when she suddenly saw a thin wooden board floating, which she picked up thinking that it could be useful to cover the water jar she had in the corridor of her house. The next morning, when she was straining the coffee, the woman heard a few hits as if someone was calling. He went to see what was happening and was astonished to see that the tablita shone and that appeared on it, the image of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá. Subsequently, the ecclesiastical authorities thought of moving the miraculous table to the Cathedral, but the Virgin chose her own sanctuary, gaining a weight impossible to be lifted by the devotees .
Pope John Paul II, during his visit to Maracaibo on 27 January 1985, celebrated the homily before the altar of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá.
This is why all Zulians look forward to the month of November to receive the blessing of our beautiful mother.
