Gershon Kingsley - Popcorn Song Original
Popcorn Song Original 1969
In one of my blogs, I already wrote about Popcorn Music Style. You can read it below this blog by Read more.
Today I have made a list of Popcorn Song Original from Gershon Kingsley made by several musicians in different styles. Gershon Kingsley was the first one who made the Popcorn Song Original in 1969 made on a Moog synthesizer.
You immediately recognize the song by its synthesizer sound. It is an instrumental song. So there is no singing in it. This song was released several times by different artists in various styles. Nice to see the development in electronic music. Where you clearly hear the synthesizer in the original song from 1969, you gradually see a shift in that sound towards the 20th century. The beat has also changed enormously over the years. There are even hardcore versions made in which the tempo of the beat is many times higher.
Yet there were a few performances that stood out and that was the performance of The Popcorn Makers, Anarchic System, Revolution System and M and H Band. But the most famous rendition was by Hot Butter in 1972.
In the year 2000, Gershon came out with a new version of the Popcorn Original Song and in it you also hear a little bit of vocals. And the song is a bit smoother and layback in the ear. More enjoyable, in my opinion. The 1969 version strikes me as a bit jittery.
Who was Gershon Kingsley?
Gershon Kingsley was a German-American composer, pianist. He was born on 28 October 1922 in Bochum ( Weimar ). His father was also a pianist and carpet dealer. He grew up in Berlin, where his parents ran a carpet shop. His mother did the housework. He was familiar with electronic music, such as the keyboard instrument the Moog synthesiser, and he formed a duo with his music partner Perrey who composed various electronic music pieces. They were also the creators of The First Moog Quartet. In 1966, they released their first album entitled The In Sound From Way Out. Some songs from that album were later used as parts for the children's television programme Sesame Street.
