Review wonderful book Dots on Stones
Recently I was sent a wonderful book.. with the intention to share my experience on this. The book is great illustrated book about dots on stones. But it's more than just dots.. it's a technique in which you can work a stone so you can make it too.
Writer: Maria Mercedes Trujillo Arango (Publisher Forte Creative) has paid much attention to the elaboration of this book. She shows all sorts of tricks to master these techniques. What I particularly like is her approach to the step by step principle. The same thing I like to apply in my blogs. Finally, you would like to see how you can make and achieve something like that.
There are more than 40 mandalas and designs from nature in. They are sometimes purely a play of lines with eg. 2 Colours. But you can also see a lot of combinations of beautiful colors and shapes. Insects and fish can also be found. That looks different right away. Maria (the writer) tells from a to z what you need in materials. And how to apply the technique she uses. She also tells you how to make your own polka dots from eg. wooden chopsticks!
She also shows how to make a mandala using. a grid. This will help you to draw your own mandala with all kinds of drawing tips and shapes. Would you prefer a ready-made mandala shape? Then you will find a lot of examples in the back of the book. You then scan it first and determine with your computer settings how big it should be.
As a starting point, she often starts with a white circle on a stone. You can apply it with acrylic paint or gesso. I used white chalk paint from Trixx Creatief. So with a pencil you first draw in this white circle. With the steps from the book, you can easily do this. Using Posca markers I fill up the mandala flower. For finishing, I myself use other material. Those are pearlescent pens. A soft powder pink and an ice white color forms beautiful half-pearls on the stone.
Ook de kleurcombinatie... 💗💗💗💗💗
