Sometimes I'm listening to someone and suddenly I can be amazed at the amount of words spoken. How is that possible, I think, so many words and then they just keep flowing out. Where did all those words come from? And I don't mean why does a rabbit call a rabbit and a flower call a flower?
I won't go into it too deep because then I'll end up with the extroverts and introverts or how your brain works... That will probably be for another time.
The only thing that might be interesting to know is that in your brain there is a kind of dictionary called mental lexion. In it words are stored together with their meaning. When listening to and producing speech, this lexion is always drawn from. A normal adult speaker has a lexion of about 50,000 words and can easily understand or produce three words per second, according to wikipedia.
Anyway, tonight I was just wondering how many words a person speaks on average in a day.
There is of course a lot to find and I really believe that one person is not the other so take it as an average...
I read that women use an average of 20,000 words a day, and men use 7,000 words.
A woman seems to talk 298 minutes every day. The AD says, “The average woman is catching up for five hours a day.” That is more than a third of her time awake, according to British figures.
Women usually talk more than men, although there is no clear source for this.

Anyway, I know people who use few words and people who use a waterfall of words in less than a minute. Miraculous sometimes to be allowed to behold; -)
