The smallest bird in the world - The Hummingbird

These are really amazing birds. The smallest birds in the world linger quietly in the air and keep floating. How can they do that? While they hang still, they go with their exceptionally long beak into a flower, to drink nectar. Their wings go up and down, but they stay in place.

They can float because they do not move up and down with their wings, but they move the wings in the shape of eight! It's a kind of water stepping in eight. The wings go equally in all directions, so that the bodice can hang completely still. They can even fly backwards, but also sideways and upside down!

Hummingbirds have very weak legs and can hardly walk. They prefer to fly.
