The (somewhat) hidden gems of Cyprus
I keep being encouraged to talk more about Cyprus, and who am I to say no? Today, I'd like to share some of my favourite places on the island with you. Some of them are well-known, some may be new to most people; yet all of them hold a special place in my heart.
Apostolou Andrea Russian Church
It might be surprising to see a Russian church mentioned as one of the most interesting places in Cyprus, but it's truly unlike anything else you will see on the island. Russia and Cyprus share the same faith, Greek Orthodox, however, the churches are very different. A typical Cypriot church is a short and stout building of solid white stone, topped with a few red or orange domes with white crosses. As for a typical Russian church... Imagine pristine white walls, tall stained glass windows, proudly high bell tower, and brilliantly golden domes reflecting every single ray of the sun to shine straight into your soul.
