The Sun Always Shines on TV
“The Sun Always Shines on TV” is a song by Norwegian band A-ha, taken from their 1985 debut album “Hunting High and Low”. The song was released as the album's second single and became one of their most recognisable hits. It is known for its compelling melodies, powerful vocals and striking video clip.
“The Sun Always Shines on TV” is often regarded as one of A-ha's signature songs because of the profound emotion placed in Morten Harket's lyrics and vocals. The song explores themes of loneliness, longing and the quest for true connection in a world of superficial interactions. The striking and powerful choruses are interspersed with subdued passages, providing a dynamic and immersive listening experience.
With its striking synth melodies, powerful guitar chords, and melodic vocals, “The Sun Always Shines on TV” left a lasting impression on A-ha fans and 80s pop music enthusiasts alike. It became an international hit and reached high chart positions around the world, making it an iconic song in the band's body of work.
The song was another inspiration for me to make a collage.
In the collage, you will find the TV with the single of the song that was released at that time. In the song's video clip, you can see mannequins. These are also included in this collage and, of course, the location where the clip was shot at the time, a church hall. Of course, the sun's rays refer to The Sun Always Shines on Tv. The collage also got a pencil-like finish, just like Morten Harket at the beginning of the video clip, which turns into a pencil image.
