This is Belgium 3: the Semois river is in bloom again!
It is a very special phenomenon.
Every year, the Semois, a Belgian river, blooms from June to August.
I took these pictures near the town of Bertrix, where you can do kayak trips between these floating flower stalks up to 6 meters long.
In some places, the bloom is so exuberant that you barely get through it with your paddle.
This is the floating water ranunculus, a rather rare plant in our areas, that feels at home in the sun. You can find them mainly in rivers that have a rocky bottom and clear, fast-flowing water.
