This is what happens when you extinguish burning oil with water. (video)
Yesterday I took a course of fire prevention and extinguishing techniques.
Among other things, we put out a pot of burning oil.
Even the slightest splash of water causes a blowtorch.
So it should be :
- Take a mop or other firm cloth.
- Wet it and wring it out well. (Drops cause blowtorch !)
- Put your hands with the palm upwards on the two upper corners of your cloth, thumbs outward.
- Grab your cloth between your thumb and forefinger and turn inward so that your hands and arms are wrapped in the outer edge of your cloth.
- Keep your cloth up in front of you so that it also partially protects you.
- Go quietly with your hands over the burning pot and cover it with your cloth. (Don't throw it, because then he might end up half in !)
This is how to properly deal with burning oil.
I tried it out and it works perfectly. The flames are extinguish immediately.
In the attached video you can see what happens when you pour a cup of water on it.
Imagine what happens when you pour a bucket over it...
