This weekend we have been creative again. This time with a papier-mâché turtle, which you can use as a flower pot. You always have a place for that, right?? You can take him (or is it a hair?) paint in all kinds of colors, cover with a nice Decopatch paper, or give yourself a concrete look! By the way, did you know that the turtle is the only reptile that doesn't have teeth?
We'll show you our creations below, hoping you'll be inspired to pimp a turtle to your taste. Because being creative (I keep repeating it..) is relaxing and very fun to do. It's not just about the result, but also the fun being busy, just your thoughts at zero, is wonderful to do.

You can find the papier-mâché tortoise flower pot in the webshop of Trixx Creatief, see HERE . If you mention the code CREAKIDS with your order, you will receive an extra nice surprise included!

Tear small pieces of the Decopatch paper (Multicolor Aztecs design FDA831 ) and glue it overlapping on the papier-mache shape. Use the Decopatch adhesive/lacquer!

Then paint the temples and the head of the turtle. We used chalk paint Chile Orange .

With stickers from eyelets give you the turtle eyes and with a nice Pom Ribbon can you decorate his shield a little more. It can, but of course it does not have to!

In the pot you can put a cactus or other plant, the bowl is waterproof so it really functions as a flower pot. Nice on the porch!

Or make your turtle in a concrete look! The concrete paste is a completely new way to create effects. Everything is possible, everything with this paste can look like concrete! The concrete paste is water-based, is for absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces, and you can paint, stencil, blot, sponge or smear it with a thick layer. You can leave it rough, or after drying some sandpaper.
In addition, it is weatherproof, if the substrate is also weather-resistant. In this case, you can't really put the turtle outside, because the turtle itself is made of paper. If the substrate is made of wood, glass or porcelain, it can of course be outside. For the characteristic concrete look, first dark glaze and then light glaze is wiped on the turtle with a sponge.

The concrete paste is also available at Trixx. click HERE for more info. And here also applies: If you mention the code CREAKIDS with your order, then you will receive an extra nice surprise!

Lubricate the turtle with a spatula or firm brush with the base paste. Attention, the paste dries quickly so put the cap back on the pot.

With the small bottles light and dark you can pat the shades here and there on your shape with a sponge. This gives the turtle a real cement/concrete look due to the light/dark effect!

With a fur (white or black could also be) you give it an extra decoration, but also without ribbon or fur it is already decorative for windowsill or in the conservatory!

We love cacti very much here, so that's why this cactus has found its home.

Possibly you stick some wobbly eyelets, but of course you don't have to.
