WHAT IS ALOE VERA? The aloe family of plants includes over 200 varieties. Of these, it is the Aloe barbadensis miller (Aloe vera) that has been of most use to man. It looks like a cactus but is in fact a member of the lily family. A succulent plant with thick fleshy leaves which conceal an inner gel, it has been used for centuries to maintain health and enhance beauty. Flourishing in warm, dry climates, both the Greeks and the Egyptians valued it highly. No one quite knows why aloe is as beneficial as it is, but it may be the balance of nutrients as much as the nutrients themselves. It contains over 75 substances which meet the body’s needs in maintaining health and vitality. DRINKING GELS MLXLS Aloe Vera Gel Aloe vera drinks are liquid dietary foods consisting of the stabilized inner leaf gel of the plant which contains over 75 known nutrients, in a natural balance that helps to maintain all the signs of a healthy animal. Home made vs certified care products
Ilse Dumont

Are you also confused sometimes? People will make a fuss because a certified natural product is “missing” a certain ingredient they like or it has too many ingredients or it gets close to the expiry date… These same persons however are happy to buy homemade lotions, soap, scrubs that have never been checked. The quality of the individual ingredients that are mixed, the circumstances in which they are mixed, hygiene, no expiry date, etc!   What is a certified or qualified product? It is the process of certifying that a certain product has passed performance tests and quality assurance tests provided through the government and other recognized entities of the country it is produced in. Additional checks can be made once the products are used in multiple countries. With any product, reading the fine print will help you make educated choices. A product labeled organic isn't necessarily better than one labeled natural. For example, because of regulations, some local products might not qualify for the organic label due to the fees and size of the operation, but may use organic practices. In such cases, ask questions of the farmer or manufacturer. The organic label means that the product contains at least 95 percent organically produced and processed ingredients. You might also see a label with a percentage indicating how much of the product qualifies as organic. Any product containing less than 70 percent organic ingredients cannot use the organic label. These products can only list individual ingredients as organic. Organic products must also indicate the certification agency and indicate each organic ingredient on the label 5 steps to safer Personal care products (source www.nsf.org) A recent independent study conducted on behalf of NSF International found that 48 percent of consumers are concerned about the quality and safety of personal care products. That means that the other half is still buying products that have never been controlled. Here are a few things you can do to avoid harmful products. 1. Purchase only from authorized retailers. Cosmetic and personal care manufacturers are required by law to ensure the safety of their products. Fake or knock-off versions may contain harmful levels of contaminants or heavy metals. To make sure you are purchasing an authentic product and not a fake, buy your cosmetics directly from trustworthy companies or one of its authorized retailers/distributors. 2. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. If you see heavily discounted versions of brand name cosmetics, be cautious, it’s likely not the real product. Everyone likes a good deal, but if you see one that is too good to be true, it probably is. 3. Verify the authenticity of your products with the manufacturer if you have suspicions. If you plan to or have purchased a product that you think may be a fake, check with the manufacturer directly. Cosmetics and personal care products usually have identifiers on the label like a lot number or bar code. Consumers can contact the customer care hotline of a brand name cosmetic company to verify the lot number. 4. Look for credible certification marks or labels from third-party organizations. NSF is the only American National Standard for personal care products containing organic ingredients. USDA labeled products must contain at least 95 percent organic content by weight and be produced in accordance with USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standards for agricultural/food products. 5. Throw out old cosmetics and personal care products. Just like food, cosmetics and personal care products expire. While some products like sunscreens have expiration dates, others do not. In addition to following U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommendations, consumers can also contact the manufacturer to obtain the recommended storage guidelines and shelf life of any products that they purchase.

Interview with Julie Buck
Ilse Dumont

Please tell us a little about yourself. I’m a marketing consultant from the UK (but have been living here in the Middle East since 2011). I’ve actually been running my own marketing business since 1994 when our daughters were just very young children…you see, as an ex-marketing director, after I had our girls I wanted to work but not have the same full-on job like I had before (my husband worked every hour under the sun and travelled loads, and we didn’t want our girls to have BOTH parents never around!)…I discovered that the only way to do this was to ‘go it alone’ and be my own boss! So I set up MATER, worked from home with some childcare (but not full-time) and enjoyed the many benefits (and also some of the pitfalls!) of working for myself…but it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be if I’m honest…I can recall Saturday nights (when my husband was overseas on business) putting the girls to bed, and then working until the early hours on a report that needed to be on my client’s desk on Monday morning…there were deadlines, pressure, and then of course there were times when I had no projects on and NO INCOME! Yes it was lucrative WHEN I had projects, but at other times I had nothing! I felt like I was chasing my tail all the time…  Apart from the work side of things, ever since I was first pregnant with daughter #1 in 1991, I had suffered with constant 24/7 severe low back pain…it was debilitating, and twice had caused me to literally collapse with the pain…I tried everything the doctors suggested (as well as some more ‘alternative’ ideas) but at the end of the day my pain was still there…I learnt to live with it, didn’t complain (well, not too much anyway!), and tried to just get on with my life (but in constant pain, with two young kiddies). That was until 2003 when I heard about Forever Living and the potential benefits of its aloe vera gel drink for my back (you see, one of its properties is it’s a natural anti-inflammatory)…what had I got to lose, I thought? Absolutely nothing! Within just three weeks, I couldn’t believe the difference in my health…and the rest, as they say, is of course history! How did you hear about Forever Living? So it was fate maybe that brought me to Forever…I was actually looking for an extra income (to fit in around my ‘feast or famine’ marketing business)…and when I saw the concept of how Forever works (by simply using and sharing some fabulous natural products (after all, I was already ‘into’ using natural and organic products wherever possible) and talking to others who might want to do the same) and how it could so easily fit into my other commitments AND leverage my time (something I definitely couldn’t do with my marketing business, as it was JUST ME!), and I discovered that Forever’s products were primarily based on its organically grown aloe vera and beehive products… Since there was no cost to joining (I had nothing to lose!), I registered immediately, bought a few products to try on myself and my family, and ‘got to work’ with the help of my sponsor. What then happened was a fascinating roller-coaster journey!    Which is your most favorite product? I love too many of Forever’s products, but my absolute favourite HAS to be our aloe vera gel drink because not only for what it did to help my back pain but for what it’s done to help so many other people (my clients) around the world to improve their health too… Where do you see yourself in about 5 years? When I started my Forever ‘career’ in 2011, I just wanted to develop a more stable income alongside my marketing consultancy, and also find a natural solution to my severe back pain…both of these happened very quickly. Since that time, I have consistently developed my business, month in month out…NOT by working every hour under the sun, but by simply working smart, taking small but daily/weekly/monthly actions… This business is all about MAKING CHOICES…and YOU choose what you do, when you do it, where you do it, which means that when I travel (and we LOVE to travel!), I can choose to keep in touch with my business (albeit briefly sometimes) or not! It’s MY choice. I could choose to earn even more than I do now if I worked harder and longer hours, BUT I prefer to enjoy a calmer lifestyle (like CHOOSING to go for a swim when the pool is empty. So although I’m in my mid 50s now, yes I may choose to slow down a little (maybe one day!) but for now, I’m loving what I do and I really want to help more people enjoy a better lifestyle too, like I do…I don’t NEED to work, but I LOVE what I do; it’s my passion! What do you like most about forever living? Wow, there’s so much that I love about Forever, where do I start? Of course, I love our products, I love helping people and the fact that Forever is such a caring community of other like-minded people is fab!, I love that Forever gives back in so many ways (to the environment, to the less-fortunate people, to its research ensuring it can offer the BEST products in the market, to many charities including our big RISE AGAINST HUNGER campaign, and so on), to the many fabulous friends I've made around the world through Forever, to my amazing global team and my wonderful clients (without whom none of this would be possible), and finally of course, to the generosity of Forever – giving back to us FBOs (Forever Business Owners) in our bonuses, in sharing its profits with us as achievers, with the many incentives that are offered to us, with the travel and luxury hotels and all the extras…I love Forever, I AM FOREVER! Thank you
