Once in a while I want to start a healthy lifestyle. Not only eat healthy, but also start running and other fit stuff. Which I will do for like one time and then never do it again. A couple of months ago I found Bikini Body Guide (BBG). It really caught my attention, because the workouts are only 30 minutes or less and the workouts are really almost always different. I don’t have the book, because I found the workouts on Pinterest, which doesn’t mean you can’t buy the book of course. A student like me just can’t afford such an expensive book.
Because of an knee injury, I have to take things slow, which is the hardest thing to do. I loved to do conditional workouts when I was still doing karate. I think the only thing I can’t do, is running. That’s why my condition is so bad. Cycling is something that really helps me to make my knees stronger and it’s also very fun to do. I love to listen to music while I cycle and the songs don’t even have to be very uptempo. Cycling is not much, but you have to start somewhere.
A thing I really have trouble with is eating healthy. It’s much harder then it sounds, but it helps when people around you will support you. That’s something I’m happy to have. My parents really help me with eating healthy. I live with my parents, so they buy lots of fruits and vegetables for all of us. It is still very difficult for me, because I absolutely love some chocolate and a pizza. But it’s not like I always crave for chocolate or crave for pizza, because that’s just not okay. I think it’s healthy to have a cheat meal once in a while. My favourite healthy meal is actually my breakfast, which I ate last weekend. I had two muesli bread slices, with strawberries in a bowl. It was actually just enough for breakfast and lunch.
Something that really keeps me motivated, is to document my health journey through a fit account. I don’t post really often, but it’s amazing how motivated you get when you follow other fit accounts. And when you actually post something everyone is sending you motivational reactions. I actually met some amazing people online. Not only people from the Netherlands, but also from America, New Zealand, Spain, France… You name it. That’s something I love about the internet; connecting with people from all over the world with the same interests.
Another way I document my journey is through a memory book with polaroids, normal pictures and quotes. It’s something you can place somewhere in a bookcase or at your desk so it’s close. You can look at it a few years later and think: “Well, that was actually an amazing time,”. There are not only ‘healthy pictures’ in it, but also just normal pictures I made, that made me happy or proud. Pictures like my graduation from 2015, pictures from karate or pictures with my friends. Just as positive as possible.
I will post a new blog every month about this topic. I’m going to call these blogposts: A Student and Her Healthy Lifestyle. I think this is going to be something that I enjoy writing, because I already like to write this posts. This is yet another way to document my health journey, so this is another self motivation.
