Vikings: Restless Northerners

In the same period, northern Europe is experiencing an expansion. The increase in large families and limited agricultural opportunities, especially in the colder north, make young men and women dream of the Western countries. In 793 a certain Ragnar Lothbrok decides to explore this route and ends up with his companions on the island of Lindisfarne. Searching for wealth, they find only poor acquisitions in Christian households. Soon he finds that this culture holds its treasures in the monastery, which is so completely robbed.
Knowing that there are opportunities to sail west, the door to Europe is wide open. The Europeans, intoxicated under pious Christianity, did not know what happened to them. They had not been aware of the naval force that has been developing in the north for hundreds of years. And that while the Normans had always rowed and traded worldwide. The seas knew no secrets from the people.
Now, more than 1200 years later, we remember the Vikings as furious men with striking helmets on. But they deserve a lot more credit.

Wanderers
The warlike wanderers originally came from a part of modern Scandinavia: Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Their people were called the Normans, but they soon got the name 'Vikings'. This is not a noun, but a verb: the Normans argued that restless spirits were going 'Vikings'. The latter means something like “robbery.”
