I came across this beautiful little water plant during a walk on Saturday afternoon.
Water violier is a plant with hidden leaves that occurs in shallow waters. The species is an indicator of seepage and tolerates a lot of shade.
The water violinier's plants have long roots that have grown in the underwater floor. The leaves of the species are comb-shaped and feather-shaped, with linear slips. They form a rosette underwater. The leafless flower stalk can be 20-60 cm long. The part that protrudes above water, the flower stalks and the calyx are glandular hairy. The corolla is pale lilac to white, with a yolk yellow throat.
