What does this bottle have to do with Ascension Day?
It's a Ascension Day , a few hundred years ago. Johannes and Maarten walk along a mountain lake. They philosophize a bit about what it would be like if the Lord walked with them. Just like at the time with the Emmausgoers , say.
A special bottle
Suddenly John sees a small bottle lying on the floor, directly on the waterfront. The bottle seems to be motionless for years. Both friends see it with increasing interest.
What would this bottle mean? Would it be here by chance, or would their Lord have a hand in it? Maarten cannot restrain his curiosity and grabbed the bottle out of Johannes' hands. It's just a small bottle. Very carefully he turns the cap off and sees a rolled piece of paper in it.
John expresses the question that concerns them both: “What does this note have to do with Ascension Day?”. But the answer speaks for itself: “Let's open it and read it.”
