There is often also wind when it rains and an umbrella is not intended for that. So I say raincoat.
Except when the wind blows, I take an umbrella with me in the rain. I don't like wearing a rain suit.

For me, a rain suit works best, an umbrella when you're outside or cycling doesn't work so well.
An umbrella and then you have those special ones that are slanted on one side, they are very good. Rain suit on a bike or motorcycle not only helps against the rain but also against the cold. But of course, I prefer to stay inside and the sound of the rain tapping on the roof or window and then lying in bed is great.!
I think it's an umbrella, but I never walk with it myself, actually. When I have to go out with the dog in the rain, wear a rain suit, I stay more dry than with an umbrella, hihi.
Horrible, those umbrellas.! Instant cramp in my arm, no hand free, always blowing in the wrong direction. Just give me a raincoat with pockets. I don't need a bag either 😊
