In the foundation in which I work there are several mango trees which provide excellent shade, sometimes I sit under them and always see with curiosity some small holes in the loose sand in the shape of a funnel, I know that this is the trap that makes an incredible insect "the Lion Ant", this one feeds on other insects, when I was a child I always met with other children and we approached those funnels and poured small grains of sand which were repelled when we reached the center, sometimes we placed small ants that when trying to climb dropped the grains and when they were repelled they made it fall faster to the center; By extracting the sand from the area where it was, we were also able to remove it and notice some curiosities, it was very different from the normal ants that we commonly saw and that it always walked moving backwards.
Looking for information to publish this topic I was surprised by several things, one that is a larva and not of the ant family but a neuroptera of the Myrmeleontidae family, another that in the end becomes an insect similar to a dragonfly, such transformation occurs when create a capuyo in which it will be under the sand.
