“Wonderfull Tonight” was written in 1976 by Clapton while he eagerly waited for Patti Boyd to dress up and make up for a Buddy Holly tribute where Clapton would share the stage with Paul McCartney.
Pattie Boyd recalled during an interview, “Clapton was sitting next to me playing his guitar, while I tried to choose a dress to wear to the show. Apparently I had been doing it for a long time, but on top of that I didn't like my hairstyle, my clothes, everything, so at that time Eric yells at me “Listen to this” and he began to play the chords of this song that he had composed it while I was getting ready”
