Woodstock in Kralingen
#Kralingen The very first open-air festival in the Netherlands was organized on 26 June 1970 in the Kralingse Bos. Tens of thousands of young people gather in Rotterdam. There are international artists such as Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd and The Byrds, Santana, Mungo Jerry and Dr. John the Night Tripper. The Netherlands experiences its own Woodstock.
In fact, the Festival formed the beginning of the Dutch tolerance policy regarding the use of marijuana ; the many undercover police officers present did not, or hardly, act against the openly active users and small traders.
In 1971 a film about the festival in Kralingen, titled Stamping Ground, was made for an international audience. The film is also known as Love and Music and in Germany as Rock Fieber. More than 35 years later, the film is still available on video as well as DVD versions.
