A pandemic Christmas

Let's start by saying that it will undoubtedly be a different Christmas, this 2020, a difficult and unexpected Christmas. The pandemic that has hit the planet forces us to confront ourselves with our smallness, with fragility, with the fear of dying every day and with the essential things of life.

In the meantime, we have understood that to live it is necessary ... to breathe, to have enough oxygen. Never before were we so afraid of not being able to do it anymore. And never before have we understood the need for good planetary lungs, that is, forests and marine plankton.

And, as someone said on television the other day, we also understood that making programs is useless, because then there is always someone who upsets them. And then, unlike always, I who am a crazy control freak, will necessarily have to live the holidays by the day, or rather, by the half day. Calling them festivities with hundreds of deaths the day is upsetting.

So let's get ready for this Christmas by letting go of all that is too much, luxury, the unbridled rush to purchases, consumerism - with all due respect to the economy - forced gifts to those who are unpleasant, snake relatives.

It will be a Christmas where we will have to remove and not add, as in a good wrtitten text, it will be a Christmas reduced to the bare essentials. Not necessarily worse. Indeed, maybe ...
