Very cool! You know, there are two shoes swinging just like that from a cable on a public street close to where my mom lives. Don't know who put them there but it's cool to spot random works of art like that 🙂

But there are also reasons that I think are romantic. But it seems that it originated with the skaters: "Skateboarders have griptape on their skateboard, a kind of sandpaper on top of the skateboard for extra grip. The griptape makes the skate shoes wear out extra quickly. Skateboarders who skate every day therefore need new shoes almost every month, the new ones are put on at the skate park and the old ones are thrown into the tree.
