A Loa for Loa's litter (Encaustic art).

Soon we will return to Iceland (if all goes well)!
And one of the places we come back every trip is B&B Loa's nest in Hella.
Owners Unnur and Ingi have become friends, and I liked the idea of making something for them.

Earlier I brought them two keychains, which they turn out to be very happy with.
In the B&B there are several paintings, and there are several LOAs (Golden Plovers), most stylized.
I decided to repaint my own picture (photo 6) with the beeswax, with the intention of giving it to Unnur and Ingi when we get there.

For this painting (18x25 cm) I used two different techniques.
I made the background with the micro iron (an iron shaped attachment for the drawing pen), and started to “iron” with it, so that the colors flow nicely, and you get a flatter effect.
This is because I really wanted to make the Loa and the rock it stands on jump out of the painting.

I drew the bird itself with the drawing point, as well as the rock, which gives it much more relief.
I've included some close up photos so hopefully you can tell the difference.
The Loa is the bird that announces spring in Iceland: when the Loas are seen, it becomes spring, Icelanders love it.
This Loa is in breeding cloth, the inverted S in white but very recognizable.
