#Courier was in 1893 at Mulder shipyard in Vierverlaten. If you look closely at the construction of the Courier you can see that it is a ship from the transition era from wood to iron. The ship had a wooden keel and was probably built on the stevens, as was customary for wooden ships. That is, first the front and stern were set up and then the large rafter at the mast. Then with slats, by eye, the rest of the ship was streaked. Because of this, the ship is not entirely symmetrical.

Courier is built after the model of a wooden nave, this can be seen by the round shapes of head and the high ascending stern, in later times the shapes became much less round.

The ship is built for fa KH de Jong in #Hoorn exporter of cheese. This company owned a number of warehouses on the beer quay in Hoorn, where the museum of the 20th century is now located.
