#storing AVIATION TRAGEDY IN THE CITY

One of the aerial tragedies that left their mark on the hearts of Venezuelans, considered one of the greatest aviation tragedies in history, is the fall of Viasa's DC-9. Why does talking about this event still cause horrible among the maracaiberos? Because this plane unfortunately fell on the urbanization La Trinidad located in the northern part of the city.
My mother tells us, that she cleaned the outside part of the house, which is a neighboring urbanization, when she suddenly heard a deaf sound, felt the impact and a rumbling, she describes, terrible. He got confused and looked up because there was so much smoke; soon he understood what had happened and left the house together with my father and brother. 155 people died, including people on land who got the impact of each of the parts where the plane was smelled.
The event took place on March 16, 1969 at 12.05 p.m.. His destination was the city of Miami. Apparently, everything worked perfectly. The plane departed from Golden Grain Airport, but could not lift more than 70 feet near the same airport, it was very heavy people who normally stayed to fire relatives and observe the orbit of the plane, commenting that the plane did not meet the position of “vertical impulse", when suddenly it could be noticed, what in jargon is known as the “giant firetongue" coming out of the aircraft turbine. In his forced advance, he began to rub against the pole of a city cinema - imagine what his height was - as he leaned to the side of the burning turbine. It manages to advance a little further until the steep descent occurs.
In this tragedy that triggered the Maracaibero, well-known sports personalities died before that time. Some were on the plane, others were residents of the sector.
There are still not certain causes. Some say that the runway of Golden Grain Airport did not have the necessary distance for taking off such aircraft, since it had only 2600 meters of runway, but some experts reject this possible cause. Suspicious focus on the overweight YV-C-AVD that prevented it from getting up high enough to start its normal flight. Finally, the case closes the conclusion that the aircraft remained grounded as a result of the explosion of the left turbine, as a result of which it lost its balance and completely changed in the air.
Actually, every tragedy has its history, but we live it very close. However, it has been more than 50 years since the hearts of those who witnessed this aviation event are still shaking.
