Decoupage napkin technique
DECOUPAGE or decopatching is a hobby, in which you cut or tear napkin paper and then paste it on an object to decorate it. A craft technique, decorating with the so-called napkin technique.
Decoupage has existed for hundreds of years! It was born a little out of need. In the old days people wanted a new interior but there was no money to buy new furniture. That's why they started looking for ways to decorate their walls and furniture. Decorating blank wallpaper, and then varnishing with varnish, it seemed expensive and original wallpaper.
Decoupage is a French word and meanscut. It is a technique in which you paste several cut or torn off pieces of material (often paper) onto an object. After that, the whole is finished with a few layers of lacquer or varnish.
The technique gives depth to the different layers and makes the patterns and images look as if they were painted on the object. It is an easy and fun way to decorate objects with. For example, objects in your home (small vases but also large cabinets or chairs).
Wat ontzettend gaaf! Dit deed ik vroeger altijd met mijn moeder samen. Neemt mij weer helemaal mee terug naar vroeger! Leuk! X
