Saint Nicholas always likes it when he is warmly welcomed. If you made something homemade for him, he'll see it right away! They are the most beautiful gifts you can give Saint Nicholas: drawings, crafts and cute decorations, the Saint loves them!
Do you want to make something special for the Saint and his Peter? To hang, for example, in the hallway, above the fireplace, or in front of the window, when Saint comes to bring your gifts? Then you could, for example, craft a pendant with the letters SINT or PIET, if you would like!
Of course, you can cut or cut letters yourself from cardboard or figure saws, but that takes a bit of work, time and effort. Do you not have that much time or are you not so handy in figure saws and do you want it a little easier? Then these wooden MDF letters are a nice tip! It's easier, firmer than cardboard and you can use the letters every year.
We have pasted the letters with decoupage paper, decorated with nice cheerful ribbons and hung on a 60cm branch with eyelets.
Want to know more? Then look at the method below:
Supplies: Wooden (MDF) letters, 4 types of Decopatch paper and Decopatch napkin glue/lacquer and tassel. Tacky Tape (thin double-sided tape), ball tape, branch, rope and herb nuts.
We also painted the brown letters white (gesso or white paint) so that the colors look fresher.
Then paste the torn pieces of paper overlapping, with a napkin glue, e.g. the Decopatch brand.
Each letter gets its own print, but of course you can choose which print you choose, after all there are lots of different papers to use.
When the napkin glue is dry, decorate the letters to your taste.
We love ball tape, so with Tacky Tape (very solid double-sided tape) we have pasted the outlines of the letter.
For extra decoration, we made another peppernut garland. Guard those peppernuts carefully, because they'll be out before you know it!
Glue the herb nuts together with the string between them.
Turn a metal eyelet into each MDF letter, or attach a Christmas ball hook to the back of the letter, with sturdy adhesive tape.
Thread the letters on the branch, possibly thread some wooden beads on it. Tie down and your Sinterklaas welcome hanger is already ready!
