You will find several houses with a French hood in the Netherlands. Other names for this roof construction are also called Mansardekap or Mansartkap. The typical broken hood, elaborated by French architect François Mansart, creates more spacious upstairs, and that is a good thing for these houses, often with a ground floor and only one floor on top.

We have lived in such a house for many years, and it was a pleasant surprise to find such a home as a model in the Holland Scale (non-sponsored) range. It creates a bond, I'll say. By the way, apart from that hood, the cottage does not look so much like our own palace.

I painted the walls of our house myself, and it seemed like a nice idea to treat the model house with the same paint, see header photo!

like @Marc De Bisschop already quoted: also with 'us' you have such roofs.
Nice that your train landscape is growing fully !
The landscape is already taking beautiful shapes, we see. Cool! (C)
Great that you bring this forward in such a great contribution, because here in Belgium you will also find such a building style.
It's also great that it's between the other houses along the railway track of your model train.
look what's learned too. I didn't know that hood was called that. They are really top!!
