From Citalopram to Fluoxetine (Prozac)
Unless there is a miracle cure, I will stick to this...
Almost six years ago, that I switched from Fluoxetine (better known under the brand name Prozac) to Nortriptyline. Many crises now endure, sometimes even narrowly. Earlier I already wrote about the side effects I experienced, with the different types of antidepressants. You can read this here .
The last two switches took place in a short time, but the side effects were such that I'm back to my old medicine. Not to be confused with 'back to off'. In the end, Fluoxetine proved to be the best medicine, at the time because - in addition to my depressions- social phobia - Yes. Also I do not experience any side effects from this. In the meantime, I can call myself an experienced expert. Sweating like an otter with Nortiptyline (Nortrilen), nauseous like a dog with Citalopram or walking in front of a bus with the dazzling Clorapic Acid (Tranxene, tranquilizer)... In the end, it's all poison, as far as I'm concerned. But the resources have helped me survive. Literally. Ok, some of them are not, it is and always remains a search.
Even earlier (approx. 1996) I used Venlaxafine (Brand name Efexor) but this had almost no effect on me. I have had Oxazepam, which may be called a panacea for a short time, I think. In the worst crisis situations, this is a perfect medicine to get some rest. At least for a couple of hours. Then you need a new dose, usually 10 mg. But it loses its effect over time. Already after a few months you notice little to no effect anymore. Well the so-called rebound phenomena when you stop taking this medication, even if you are an hour late with your dose, is my experience. In general, all “pamms” are tranquilizers or anxiety inhibitors, medical term: “Benzodiazepines.” “These drugs would be numbingly. This is often the case at the beginning, but rather quickly habituation occurs. But also addiction, a risk unfortunately.
Lorazepam was better for me, according to my specialist at the time. This remedy turns out to be more powerful and remains effective for longer. Instead of 1 tablet/10mg Oxazepam at a time, I now received 1 mg. Lorazepam as a dose at a time. For both, it works about 4 hours. At least with me. I also had Diazepam (Valium) for a while. No effect on me at all, while some doctors say you can float a horse with it. In the past six years I have enjoyed Risperidone, Ritalin and Dexamfetamine for a short time. Well, I'm scared, too, now that this is so summarized in one blog. But I don't have my own pharmacy, haha. Of course, everything I mentioned has been reviewed in the last 25 years.
Tranxene was scary, but certainly the Risperidone. At especially higher doses, you can get permanent damage from this, I read in the package leaflet. It also had little or no positive effect on me, but to the hard drugs. Yes, in fact, yes. Ritalin and dexamphetamine, often prescribed to people with AD (H) D, are actually amphetamines. So speed. Well, I knew that. Instead of the expected soothing effect, what it should have for this target group, the Ritalin gave me a continuous heart rate of 150 beats per minute... At rest! Thanks to the doctor who, despite my complaints, continued to increase the dose. And the dexamphetamine... Well, if you want to run a marathon and then do another newspaper district, or hate sleeping, this remedy is fine.
