It's a journey that's always been with me. Not because of the weather, the impressive landscape or the travelling party. But because of that one discovery.

Instead of going off all the attractions, I chose to just walk around and cycle on that holiday. And to see where it would take me.

On the second day of my stay I met a friendly man walking. Not much bigger than me. Dressed in light brown trousers and white blouse. A boyish smile. He introduced himself as Pedro. We talked about the weather and walked for a little while together. Pedro told me he was on his way to the local school and invited me to join us. I suspected he was a teacher.

Curiously, I followed him to the school. The building looked simple, but atmospheric. Warm sand-coloured stones and graceful elements characterised the façade. Pedro walked in confidently. Somewhat shy I walked after him.

I was expecting classes with children. In rows in succession at tables two by two. With teachers for class. The material dictating to the children. With or without a pointer.
