Time changes our lifestyle and society drastically. Future will always elude the genius of today and that's what innovation and development is all about. Technology change is one of the major factor that makes a company fail over the course. Biggest and biggest of giant have been brought down to its knees by the technology. Let's take a look at the list of companies and their failure.

These all companies failed to learn and adpat to the changes. This blindsight may because of superiority complex being a giant in business. Many of them had enough opportunity to adapt and acquire the emerging business but they didn't do it.

But speaking of giants today,many have followed the learn and adapt philosophy. Amazon,Facebook,Google have been acquiring new emerging startups to anticipate this future changes.

Great reading for me. I'd say that the main reasons for failure are the ones you mentioned: lack of adaptation to change and lack of ability to anticipate the change. In the informatic and digital world I think the main problem lies with the constant change of market needs and consumer habits.

@Paula Martins I am guessing what could be the downfall of these giants.
for example for tesla electric car company,it will be new source of energy.
But i couldn't see the end for these giants. Maybe i am too familiar with these companies and i cannot think one.

So many businesses had not interest in it and especially in a country where muggings happen, a lot of people here never carry cash on them, so most would then stop going to x store because of it and rather go to y store because they had the machines.

Er zijn echter ook situaties waarin dat aanpassen, meegaan, zeer moeilijk of zelfs onmogelijk is. Ik de vijftiger jaren startte in America de kleurent-TV met het NTSC systeem. Later werden aanzienlijk betere systemen zoals PAL en SECAM ontwikkeld die in Europa in gebruik werden genomen. Amerika kon domweg niet op deze nieuwe systemen overgaan omdat dat ze niet verenigbaar waren met de gebruikte technieken in de zendmasten en ontvangers. Een overgang zou betekenen dat op hetzelfde moment alle zendmasten en ontvangers zouden moeten worden vervangen.

@casapapusilor het is interessant om te lezen over uw ervaringen. Soms kunnen veranderingen inderdaad niet snel worden opgevolgd, maar vaak verandert de technologie zo snel. Woon je nog steeds in Amerika?
