My grandfather came from the Moluccas to the Netherlands, so that we drank kopi tubruk at home and in the surroundings. This was not the average brewing of coffee, how it was for average family at the time.
With family on my mother's side there was filter coffee. The preparation is as much.. scoop coffee in the filter, water to a certain amount in the coffee machine then turn on. More beautiful was that you could even grind the beans in an actually too small container that hung under the coffee grinder than not to mention whether the pendulum that could be stuck often did its job. A pack of coffee was/is a solution.
Kopi tubruk drank grandpa always in his homeland once in the Netherlands out of suit coarse-filtering grind. Method of preparation, take a full coffee spoon (with cup) in a cup, boiling water over it, wait a minute, stirring well let rest for 1 or 2 minutes, so that coffee grounds can sink.
The drinker himself must be careful that they do not want to drink everything because of coffee grounds. This coffee is strong.
