The Virgin of Peace Monument - known as Monumento a la Paz - is located in the city of Trujillo, Venezuela, on the highest peak of the city, where a large number of visitors come to see it as the most visited tourist site in the state capital Trujillo, Venezuela. The Monument of the Virgin of Peace is the highest in the Americas, standing at 46.72 metres and located at 1640 metres above sea level, and is the tallest virgin monument in the world. It was inaugurated on December 21, 1983 and was built in 18 months. The sculptors behind the work are Manuel de la Fuente and Rosendo Camargo, with the participation of Father Juan Francisco Hernández. The sculpture has a weight of 1,200 tons, raised on a steel skeleton cast in reinforced concrete.
