Sinterklaas - rhymes and tangerines
Little girls get big
It used to be exciting what I would get, whether the Pieten had eaten the mandarin out of my shoe, and whether the horse had liked the carrot. Sometimes the manderin skins were still on the table with a note that they could not have found the trash can. That was pure magic for me! One time a Piet lost the feather of his hat in our living room. A real pietenveer!! De Piet missed his spring of course, but because I was so happy with it, he had decided that I could keep it. I couldn't take my luck when I found that note in my shoe in the morning.
Nowadays I am of course also on the buying and distributing side, and I actually found out that I like it even more than #cadeautjes get. Don't get me wrong. Getting presents is always fun. But as my friend often says, I'm a huge miser, unless it comes to cadauttes for others. I can doubt a book that I have been wanting for a long time but costs 7 euros; I can spend 60 euros without thinking when I find something I know someone else will like.
Reactions from people who receive presents that they are happy with, I find one of the nicest things about Sinterklaas. I say one of them. Poems also play a big role.
Rhymes and poems
At our home, every gift has a #gedicht there. Some rhymes are by now recurring classics, preferably last minute written on a post-it. For example, think of:
No crap and no crap, just a chocolate letter.
