#roken in the public What went wrong?Smoking in public: what went wrong?
When you smoke, you are a pariah nowadays, whereas in the past it was a sign of sociality. Everyone smoked, even the government smoked, during the debate. It was just part of it, now suddenly smoking is “not done”. Why are people first helped to addiction, then to be treated like a pariah?
Smoking is bad for your health, which is well known by now. But that everyone suddenly has to quit smoking is incomprehensible to many people. Why don't they count in our society anymore? They're not allowed to go to their local pub with their cigarette anymore? Oh, yes, the bar is still allowed, but how long before the law is amended, so that the cafes are not allowed to sell harmful substances, such as alcohol!
The smokers have had a hard time. First they were at the front of the social world, now they are at the back and are considered pariah. Which smoker has not yet received any comments from a non-smoker or from a doctor? Who hasn't heard that quitting is better, that smoking is bad for you and that they think it stinks? Who has never had a (well-intentioned) smoking cessation advice?
Are we incapacitated? It starts to look like it, because the choice of cafes is already determined for us. Anyone who thought they could enjoy a drink with a smoker in a smoking bar is now completely excluded from the ability to act, because those cafes no longer exist. In short, even the owner is not allowed to smoke in his own café anymore, in his own time, when no one is present! Because air samples will be used, the owner will be fined if the air shows that smoking has been smoked.
The non-smokers, at least the fanatical ones, have gained ground. Even though they would never come to a café or another catering facility, they forced the restaurateurs to offer them the opportunity to sit there smoke-free whenever they wish to visit this occasion. No, the choice is no longer there, there are fewer and fewer choices possible in our country, we are chosen for us.
In fact, someone who smokes should also be less entitled to care. The care, which must be paid by everyone through a health insurance premium, but of which a substantial sum must first be paid. That is, everyone already had to pay a sum of 375 euros in 2015, if they are to be eligible to claim health insurance as a premium payer and since then this form of “deductible” has only increased.. When you are a smoker, have smoked for 50 years and have never claimed care, but now suddenly breaks a leg, according to many people you would not have the right to care because you smoke. But also, when you suddenly get another illness related to smoking, you should not take advantage of the money you have paid to the insurance, which is compulsory, for all these years.
An alcoholic, on the other hand, should be entitled to claim, while the risk of stomach disease, stomach cancer and liver disease, or possibly Korsakov, is just as high and there will be a lot of money in the care of these patients. What about the addiction care and the recurring urge to drink. How many people who have been addicted to alcohol have gone back into disrepair? How many smokers have gone back to smoking after addiction?
Again and again I wonder where it went wrong. No, I don't want to lance for smoking, nor am I against it. I'm not against drinking alcohol either. Everything in moderation, then it remains in balance. No one lives completely healthy, without a pleasure in life life life is no longer fun. We should not let ourselves live, but make choices ourselves. We are adults. We should not pay attention to each other, but to ourselves and ourselves to take responsibility for our actions. Don't point to another person and come up with sanctions immediately. Look at your own shortcomings and do something about them first.
No, I am not a smoker (anymore). But I smoked for a long time. I had a myocardial infarction in 2013.The cause was hereditary too high cholesterol in the blood. Nobody told me to quit smoking at that time, although I've heard it a hundred times before. But I stopped, because the chances of a heart attack are increased when you smoke. Life is too sweet for me to defy fate. Quitting smoking was easy for me, no problem, no withdrawal symptoms, nothing at all. Do I feel healthier now than I did? No, neither, I don't miss it, but I don't notice any difference either. Never will I tell anyone to stop smoking. That's not up to me, anyone can make decisions for themselves. If there is no smoking in big cafes and small ones, that would not matter to me. But I do have a choice. Now that has been taken away from me, I can no longer choose a smoking cafe!
