The world of Rien Poortvliet
For me, gnomes are inextricably linked to my childhood - and in that respect I have been feeling young and youthful for many years. The first gnome stories I got acquainted with were of course those of Wipneus and Pim. But when I was 18 years old I got acquainted with the leprechaun of Rien Poortvliet, a new leprechaun world opened for me.
Those who think of gnomes often have the image of a small male with a white beard and an upright pointed, red pointed hat. This image is often surprisingly similar to the leprechaun drawn by Rien Poortvliet in the book 'Life and Works of the Gnome'. But Rien Poortvliet not only drew gnomes, he already managed to tell very versatile stories in numerous publications.
