Recently, in the historic Van Geertenhof, located next to the station of Kalmthout, there was an exhibition of walking branches and leaves. This much visited exhibition was the opportunity to participate in the photo challenge.
In contrast to the shot on the right (photo: Viola Loreti), all photos were taken by myself on the spot.

Despite its excellent camouflage, the walking leaf on the right is easy to observe due to the ideal lighting conditions in nature.

This is not the case at the top of an exhibition with artificial light. In addition, the insects are housed in glass terrariums with annoying reflections and dampened windows that offer a real challenge to the photographer.

In our cold and temperate regions, these herbivorous animals do not occur. Most of them come from the tropics and subtropics such as Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia, although there are a dozen smaller species living around the Mediterranean.

This exhibition included not only the living specimens as above, but also set up 30cm in size. The fact that these were set up in glass clogs did not make shooting any easier and certainly not the clots that were also in a display cabinet.

Due to these local circumstances, the use of flash light is not possible due to the reflections in the glass. A separate light source, which is separate from the camera would have been a possibility, but I didn't have it. My little Nikon Coolpix L330 has taken a good job again.
