Walking tour Archemerberg and Lemelerberg
Four years ago, on a beautiful summer Sunday, it seemed to me an excellent idea to go on a mountain hike and in Salland there are still real mountains like the Archemerberg and Lemelerberg.
Sand and gravel pushed forward by glaciers formed the lateral moraine that emerged 150,000 years ago: Lemelerberg.
A flat landscape containing the mountain, which is almost 80 metres high.
The land of the Lemelerberg was too dry and too poor for farmers to cultivate, so it has always remained an extraordinary piece of nature.
Because sheep were kept, a vast heather has emerged. As a result of overgrazing, sand plains arose.
To restrain the dusting sand, coniferous trees were then planted. Rare insects and plants are found on the only remaining sandy plain..
There are several beautiful routes through the area. On the spot we (my father and I) decided to do the blue route of 10 km which eventually led to a much longer route (thanks to missing a few signs along the way) which again led to the necessary (colorful) muscle pains, from blue feet to red heated faces etc. After several hours of getting lost, mountain up, mountain and again and again and again and again (this way you see something), our last effort brought us to the valley from which (after asking the way for the third time) we finally escaped.
And now the pictures:
And then, just like that, we came across the flock of sheep with which Landschap Overijssel manages the heathland.
When I was photographing the small copper above, I suddenly saw another animal in the grass.
It was some kind of salamander or lizard?
In short, a beautiful (mountain) walk with beautiful views.
