I myself follow 190 Yoorsies here, some of which have not been active for a bit longer. Of course I can't read everything, but I still try to get rid of some blue dots every day, after all, I don't just follow anyone. That person does have something to add to knowledge and creativity.

I always start with current and I also check random if someone else has something new or old fun.
Then: I'm following someone because they make (or made) posts that appeal to me. That can be very diverse, but something in that post (s) touched me.
I sometimes get rid of the blue balls, but my list is so long that I usually don't see everyone's blue balls ☺️
I don't click blue dots that often, because that sometimes went wrong. There is a cross behind it, if you click on it, you unfollow the person.
I regularly check with various accounts if I may have missed something.
