Why do robins fight?
You'd think robins are sweet birds. But they are not always! Nor are they as shy as you might think.
In winter, when there is little food to be found for the birds, you can try if the robins are eating out of your hand. This little animal can't bear another robin coming into his territory. Then he goes on, it's a fight blown. Not just picking a few feathers, but fighting really aggressively. It's turning his chest red!

By the way, did you know that robins have to make a choice every year? Some move away, to the warmth, and some continue to hibernate here in the Netherlands. A difficult choice, for the little songbird! Red breasts choose: to move away to the warmth or hibernate in the Netherlands.
