Following @Adriana 's challenge, here’s my story :

Back to school. I’m sitting at my desk, after having introduced myself to other colleagues. The teacher comes into the class, waves and starts his mimics. And I think, oh my God!, I will never ever be able to understand him!

Maybe I’m not explaining it properly. Let me try again…

After my retirement I decided to learn sign language. I spent three years learning it in the Portuguese Association for the Deaf (Associação Portuguesa de Surdos).

What a wonderful thing you do to persist. I remember learning the alphabet back when I saw it in a textbook as a child and learning it off by heart because in my young brain I figured even if I couldn't speak to a deaf person maybe I could spell out certain... Show more

What a special story, really an example of how your first time can lead to a great result. Which not only benefits you, but also others. Sign language seems very interesting to me to be able to master. And also thanks for your choice to support me!
