Will this become Yoors January challenge ?

The question was: What is Yoors' January Challenge going to be.
I received several very good responses to the post below. In the form of posts or comments.
They are all about:


  • Being positive.
  • Doing Good.
  • Real Connections
  • Learning new things

@ellesvandenbroek with the balloons metaphor.
That is summarized: If you help each other nearby , everyone will eventually become happier.

I'm going to think about this for a while! I would love it if it really invites substantive content.

After some thinking, I've come up with two possible challenges I'd like to suggest. Both deal with living life to the fullest and bringing some positive energy into 2021 (we know we need it!). The first one is focused on personal growth. The challenge would be to do a post each day using words and / or pictures to tell the Yoors community about something new you've tried or learned that day. Could be anything, big or small: doing origami, cooking a new dish, learning a new word, learning about about personal finance, doing a physical challenge, learning sun salutations or other yoga poses, writing a haiku (or a post about haikus) , trying out a drawing technique, learning to tie different nots, using software you've never tried before (like GIMP, for example) ... Just some examples, but the sky is the limit. The coolest thing would be to make a list of things you've always wanted to try and cross as many items on there as possible! The second option for a challenge is focused on gratitude. The challenge would be to do a daily post about something that made you smile and be happy that day, again using a photo and / or words to show / describe it. This could also be something small or big, because happiness is happiness, no matter the size of its cause. 🙂 This second challenge is, of course, inspired by the one at http://www.100happydays.com/  and the idea is to turn happiness and gratitude into a daily practice.

I will also have to think about it a little more. But from a personal perspective I have been reading up on "movements" or charities. For example the "Vow for girls" is one that is fighting to end child bride marriages. Maybe we could spend January telling each other about important issues or movements / charities that not everyone may know about. With or without winning YP it would be good to highlight these good causes.

Conclusion ?


Throughout January you can post something positive about:

  • Something you learned on that day or earlier.
  • A contact that you made with a person that you normally would not approach.
  • Something you are grateful for.
  • Something good you did or something good you saw.


In short: Post something about what makes life worthwhile and what money can't buy.

Happiness and gratitude that you experience by learning something, making something, really helping, real connection with the other person.
Try to strive for new experiences. We leave 2020 behind us. 2021 has started!


Please correct me if i am wrong and / or give me some comments. We have 4 days to figure this one out. How can we make a structure ?
Or is hapiness always without any structure at all ? :)



Update : Yoors January 2021 Positivity Challenge :



1.  Post something positive about what makes life worthwhile, makes you happy and what money can't buy.  Post it in : #yoorsjanuary2021

De vraag was : Wat gaat de Januari Challenge van Yoors worden .

Op onderstaande post kreeg ik verschillende zeer goede reacties. In de vorm van posts of comments.
Ze gaan allemaal over :


  • Positief bezig zijn.

Conclusie ?


De hele maand januari kun je iets positief posten over :

  • Iets wat je leerde op die dag of eerder.
  • Een contact wat je legde met een persoon waar je normaal gesproken niet op af zou stappen.
  • Iets waar je dankbaar voor bent.
  • Iets goeds wat je deed of iets goeds wat je zag.


Kortom : Post iets over wat het leven waard maakt en wat niet te koop is voor geld.

Geluk en dankbaarheid die je ervaart door iets te leren, te maken, echt te helpen, echt contact te hebben.
Probeer daarbij te streven naar nieuwe ervaringen. 2020 laten we achter ons. 2021 is begonnen !

1.  Post positief over wat je gelukkig maakt en niet te koop is. Post het in : #yoorsjanuary2021    

  • Iets wat je leerde op die dag of eerder.
  • Een contact wat je legde met een persoon waar je normaal gesproken niet op af zou stappen.  
  • Iets waar je dankbaar voor bent.  
  • Iets goeds wat je deed of iets goeds wat je zag.
  • Etc.


2. Je post je positieve post en die eindigt met een nieuwe positieve opdracht. Winnende dag post gaan we doen !

3. We voeren de opdracht van de winnende post uit en posten daarover de volgende dag inclusief weer een nieuw opdracht.

@ellesvandenbroek Deze is wel heel erg briljant vind ik. Laten we daar gewoon zowie zo een challenge van maken maar dan niet aan een maand koppelen. Bedenk jij een goeie engelse hashtag ? Dan gooi ik er een booster en post tegenaan ter introductie.

Er komen nog een heleboel maanden, dus je kan ze splitsen. En als een maand te lang is, kunnen we ook een weekchallenge maken. Deze had ik ook nog, maar die stond onder de verkeerde # en ik heb er net nog een geschreven.

You know, I think if you really want to make a clear challenge, he subject has to be evident. And furthermore, I won't be angry if the choice isn't mine. If I really want my challenge to take place, I could easily start one myself.... Show more

Heel wat goede ideeën die aan het rijpen zijn, lees ik hier ! Ik sta alvast achter positiviteit. Er is al zoveel negatiefs waar de nadruk op gelegd wordt. Ik heb de laatste weken alvast wat tegengewicht gegeven.

Helemaal leuk dit! Persoonlijker bloggen zie ik dan voor me, steeds meer laten zien van wat jij wil leren, waar je van houdt, wat je interesseert, enz. Ik spring gewoon in het diepe in januari en probeer me aan de vier richtlijnen te houden die je opnoemde... Show more
